History
Their objectives were to maintain and manage, for the benefit of the inhabitants, all properties owned by the Committee; to maintain and improve amenities on the sea front; to preserve and enhance the character of the village; and to provide public seats and shelters.
The Constitution states that the PIC, which became a Registered Charity in 1962, is an annually elected body of 24 voluntary members, all of whom must be resident within the village boundaries of Portreath.
PIC assets have grown considerably over the years. Some have been purchased, some gifted or bequeathed. Current owned or managed assets are the beach car park, cafe and bus shelter, the beach to the west of the stream, the Portreath Institute, the Millennium Hall, the Pepperpot, Greenfield Gardens, Greenslade Park, Jubilee Gardens, the Memorial Gardens, planted areas around the Square, the Community Garden Plots, plus several benches around the village.
