The Portreath Improvements Committee (PIC) was originally formed in 1924 and gradually took on the responsibilities of other committees of the time that had formed to provide specific services or improvements to the village, namely The Memorial Committee, The Lighting Committee, The Literary Committee and a group that were raising funds towards a village palyiong field.
The PIC now owns a number of assets within the village including two village halls, playing fields, gardens and the sea front car park, the latter providing a healthy income which is used as decided by the PIC members and in line with it's constitution to provide improvements to the village of Portreath for the benefit of it's residents.
The PIC is an independent charity that is not financially supported by the County or Parish Councils although we work closely with these and other bodies to try and ensure continuity in our work.
The PIC comprises of up to 24 members and the commitment on you if you become duly elected will be to attend one full committee meeting each month and be willing and enthusiastic to deliver PIC initiatives either individually under the direction of the PIC, or from within our specialised sub-committees.
As an elected member of the pic you are also a Trustee of the Charity, and the rules and costitution outline your responsibilities. You will receive a copy of the latest version of this governing document at your first committee meeting following your successful election.
